Ticket to Ride: Japan – Bullet Train is a new expansion to the popular board game Ticket to Ride, released by Days of Wonder in 2024. This expansion brings a fresh and immersive twist to the classic train-themed route-building game by introducing the unique rail network of Japan, complete with its iconic bullet trains, bustling cities, and scenic landscapes.
Key Features of Ticket to Ride: Japan – Bullet Train:
New Map: Features 110 cities across Japan, including Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hokkaido, and Okinawa, connected by a detailed and authentic rail network inspired by Japan’s Shinkansen (bullet train) system.
Bullet Train Mechanic: The most innovative addition is the Bullet Train feature. Certain routes on the map are designated as bullet train lines and allow players to claim them using special Bullet Train cards (a new card type). These routes are longer and more valuable, but they require a more strategic approach to claim.
New Game Modes:
Classic Mode: Play with the standard Ticket to Ride rules, using new destination tickets and route cards specific to Japan.
Bullet Train Mode: A separate gameplay mode where players compete to build and operate the most efficient bullet train network. This mode emphasizes long-distance planning, timing, and route efficiency.

Bullet Train Cards: Allow players to claim longer, high-value routes (e.g., Tokyo–Osaka, Kyoto–Fukuoka).
Express Tickets: New destination tickets that award extra points when completed using bullet train routes.
