Bai Cao (Cao Rua), also known as Cao Cao or 3 Cay in Northern Vietnam, is a popular Vietnamese card game, especially during holidays. It's a high-stakes game where players bet a fixed amount, and the player with the highest hand wins the pot. In case of ties, additional hands are dealt until a winner is determined.

Gameplay:

Bai Cao uses a standard 52-card deck. Each player receives three cards. Points are calculated based on card values, and the player with the highest total wins.

Scoring:

  • Number cards (A-10): Value equals the number on the card.
  • Face cards (J, Q, K): Each counts as ten points.
  • The final score is the units digit of the total. For example, a total of 26 points results in a score of 6. A total of 20 points is 0 (also called "Compensation").
  • Note: Suits (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades) are not considered in scoring.

Special Hands:

  • 3 Tien (Three West): Three face cards (J, Q, K).
  • 3 Scratch (Three of a Kind): Three cards of the same rank (e.g., 3-3-3).
  • Hand Ranking: 0
