Yama, New Boss in Old School RuneScape, Emerges in Great Kourend

Author : Nathan May 25,2025

Old School RuneScape's latest update plunges you back into the tumultuous political landscape and the infernal depths of Great Kourend, where an ancient and furious entity has awakened. The new boss, Yama, the Master of Pacts, has been introduced, embodying a fire-drenched minotaur demon who has been amassing power in the Chasm of Fire, biding his time until now.

If you've completed the quest "A Kingdom Divided" and faced the Royal Titans, this update continues the narrative directly from there. After confronting Yama's Judge in 2021, it was clear the saga wasn't over. The true menace, Yama, with his wings, horns, hooves, and a menacing two-handed axe, has finally emerged, accompanied by the Disciples of Yama, a cult dedicated to fire worship and ready to sacrifice themselves for their master.

Designed for high-level players, battling Yama requires completion of the quest, top-tier combat stats, and the best gear available. The encounter can be tackled solo or with a team. Victory over Yama grants access to valuable loot, including Demon Tallow for brewing Surge Potions, the Chasm of Fire Teleport Scroll, new Grimoire Pages, and other hidden treasures.

The Chasm of Fire has also been expanded to include dedicated areas for mining and smithing. Here, you can gather Crimson Lovakite, a unique resource only found in this fiery locale. With it, you can craft Oathplate, a formidable new armor set that enhances your late-game arsenal. This expansion provides a compelling reason to explore the Chasm, even if boss battles aren't your thing.
