Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Stream Select Games on Consoles Now

Author : Benjamin May 27,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just unlocked an exciting new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox consoles without the need for downloading. This was announced in an Xbox Wire news post today, which detailed how Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now enjoy streaming games from the Game Pass catalog, as well as certain games they own, on their Xbox Series X, Series S, and Xbox One consoles through cloud streaming.

Previously, this streaming feature was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time it's being extended to Xbox consoles. This innovation not only saves users time but also helps conserve valuable hard drive space, which is increasingly crucial given the large sizes of modern games.

To access this new feature on your Xbox console, simply navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games. Games that are available for cloud streaming will be marked with a cloud badge on their game page. To find these games more efficiently, use the filter option: go to Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming. Once you've selected a game, choose Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming. Additionally, you can initiate streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.

For those interested in playing games installed on their Xbox consoles remotely, this is now possible on devices with supported web browsers via this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app, but remains accessible on phones through the provided browser link. Xbox is also working on expanding this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

In another exciting development, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play.

All these updates are part of Xbox's ongoing effort to optimize storage space on their consoles. A new feature in the console's settings, accessible via My Games & Apps > Manage, offers personalized recommendations for freeing up hard drive space. This initiative comes in response to the growing issue of large game install sizes, such as those seen in games like Call of Duty and Baldur's Gate 3. For those still needing more storage despite these enhancements, we've reviewed some of the best storage options for the Xbox Series X and S, especially useful if you're not ready to invest in one of the new Xbox models that boast increased built-in storage compared to the originals.
