When it comes to mecha, Japan stands head and shoulders above the rest as pioneers of the genre. So much so, in fact, that they boast two key iterations of it, with real robot and super robot. Now, My.Games' War Robots is set to team up with veteran designer Kunio Okawara for an exclusive in-game design!

Okawara's work is perhaps most recognizable for his creation of the titular, iconic Gundam, in collaboration with writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This instantly recognizable mascot of the real robot genre has appeared in dozens of series over the years, and even in hit Hollywood films such as Ready Player One.

Now, you'll be able to jump into the pilot's seat of an original creation from Kunio Okawara as his exclusive design, the SWORD Unit 190, developed in-universe by the DSC Corporation. He's even provided designs for the optional drones and plasma guns you can equip it with.

Real steelYou'll need to wait a little bit before getting your hands on the new SWORD unit. However, it's set to take a starring role in the upcoming MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event, taking place from May 20th to June 1st, which offers a full throwback nod to the real robot genre.

It's not hard to see why the team at War Robots decided to work with Okawara. Even if you're not familiar with his prior work, this new design is sure to be an exciting and vivid addition to your arsenal.

In the meantime, if you're looking for another great battle royale experience like War Robots offers, you might find yourself at a bit of a loss. But don't fret if you are; just check out our list of the top 15 best battle royale games on mobile for a whole host of options!
