The hidden "I Caught a Shooting Star!" challenge stands out as both conceptually simple and remarkably easy to miss. Without prior knowledge, players might completely overlook this unique accomplishment.

To earn it, hunters must capture the Windward Plains' rare endemic life called Sandstar. Resembling a desert mouse with shimmering fur (shown above), this creature only appears at night in specific areas of the region.

Since story progression primarily occurs during daylight hours, you'll need to advance time using either of these methods:

Fast Travel

- Available immediately upon unlocking fast travel points. Simply navigate between locations via your interactive map to advance time until nightfall.

Rest - Unlocked after completing Chapter 3, this base/camp feature allows precise time selection (Morning/Day/Evening/Night) using Guild Points, along with weather condition adjustments.

Despite its size, the Sandstar moves astonishingly fast - outpacing even Seikret-mounted hunters. Consider acquiring Screamer Pods beforehand to help with capture.

These pods drop from Baunos, red-winged scavengers often found near Areas 11 and 13. While not essential, obtaining these tools will significantly simplify your hunt.

At nightfall, patrol the border between Areas 11 and 13. Spot the Sandstar, pursue at full speed, and fire a Screamer Pod when close enough to temporarily stun it.

Quickly switch to your Capture Net (the same tool used for fishing) to secure the creature. Success triggers the trophy/achievement and rewards your Hunter Profile with the Ribbon Dream: Amber nameplate.

With this guide, you're ready to claim your Shooting Star achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more gameplay tips, explore our comprehensive guides including cutscene skipping methods.
