Assassin's Creed: Shadows Unveils Character Progression and Equipment Details

Ubisoft's latest article highlights the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, focusing on the equipment and progression systems for Yasuke and Naoe. A key feature is the enhanced Hidden Blade, a welcome addition for fans.

Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their combat style: Yasuke's emphasizes samurai techniques, while Naoe's centers on shinobi skills. Skill points unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine fighting styles. Players earn mastery points through open-world activities and defeating challenging enemies, including Daisyo samurai.

Balanced character progression is ensured; neither character will significantly outpace the other. Unlocking powerful abilities requires specific actions, such as tracking down a secretive shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, advanced by studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.

Ubisoft also detailed the equipment system, featuring five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded and visually customized by a blacksmith. Armor and weapon perks can dramatically alter gameplay.

The iconic Hidden Blade returns, delivering instant kills with a single strike. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
