Tony Hawk Aims for Underground Remake

Author : Harper May 23,2025

If you've been longing for a return to Tony Hawk's Underground, you're in good company — even Tony Hawk himself is pushing for a remake. "I always have aspirations," Hawk shared with ScreenRant. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me." When asked about what Activision might have planned after the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, Hawk remained tight-lipped, saying, "We haven't even released this game [yet]!"

Tony Hawk's Underground, which hit the scene back in 2003, received an impressive 9.2 review score from us due to its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." It was a game-changer, allowing players to dismount their skateboards and explore expansive levels on foot for the first time in the series.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is slated to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify, which they're updating as more songs from the soundtrack are revealed. You can find out the latest in our full soundtrack list right here.

In an era where many early 2000s games are getting modern makeovers, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is poised to be a standout addition to a year packed with top-notch remakes and remasters. As we noted in IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview, "From its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era classics so memorable, to its modern quality of life improvements, excellent soundtrack, and overall love letter to the series' early days, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is very much something that should be on your radar if you’re a fan of skateboarding, enjoy action sports games, or just want to play something that's simple and fun. It might be the easiest kickflip you’ll land this year."
