Zynga, publisher of Star Wars Hunters, has revealed plans to discontinue the game entirely just nine months after launch, with the previously announced PC version on Steam now canceled.
The free-to-play team battle arena game, developed by NaturalMotion, debuted on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms in June 2024. IGN's review scored it 7/10, noting: "Star Wars: Hunters offers entertaining PvP action that's enjoyable in short bursts, though it lacks long-term staying power." This assessment proved accurate as Zynga confirmed the game's impending closure following "careful consideration."

The final content update will arrive on April 15, with servers remaining operational until October 1, 2025. Zynga stated: "We recognize this news may upset fans, and assure you this difficult decision wasn't made lightly. We sincerely appreciate the community's dedication and will provide updates throughout the transition period."
Key upcoming milestones include:
- March 25: Season 5 extended by three weeks with re-run events and shop bundles
- April 15: Final update launches (including free Hunter character Tuya) and disables in-game purchases
- October 1: Permanent server shutdown
Notably absent from the announcement was any mention of the planned PC version, with its Steam page now marked as unavailable. This represented Zynga's first foray into PC gaming following successful mobile franchises like FarmVille and Words With Friends.
Despite this closure, several new Star Wars games remain in development, including Respawn Entertainment's third Jedi installment and Bit Reactor's tactical title set to debut at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
