Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones

Sony WH1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee

"The Sony WH-1000XM5 represents the significant upgrade we've been eagerly awaiting from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities, while the ambient listening mode offers a wonderfully natural experience. The audio quality is exceptional, capable of delivering everything from intricate classical music to the intense soundscapes of action movies."

The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 brings key improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. It features a second processor and double the microphone count, dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The redesigned earcups fit more snugly on the ear, creating a better seal and thus more effective passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation is noticeably superior to the XM4 and rivals any other noise-canceling headset in its price range.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 also sports a sleeker redesign with a new style of headband adjustment. The band is wider for better weight distribution, and the earcup padding now uses a luxurious synthetic leather that's softer and more comfortable. These headphones can be worn for hours without discomfort. One minor drawback is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, making it less compact.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 retains the XM4's impressive battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge, even with ANC activated. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

At this price, the XM5 is significantly more affordable than its competitors, such as the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise-canceling headphones, this deal is one you shouldn't miss.
