SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a modernized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, a streamlined user interface, and controller support.
Originally released in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty levels, catering to various player preferences.
Convenience is enhanced with an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support for flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, unlock spells through character leveling, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
The game unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning machine crashed onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, unleashing destruction and devastation.
Players undertake a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that may also determine the fate of the world. The story begins on their wedding day, with the bride's kidnapping triggering an epic journey to confront the war machines.
Vay's narrative is captivating, blending nostalgic charm with modern enhancements. It remains true to its JRPG roots, with experience and gold gained through random encounters. The game includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options.
