Death Stranding 2 Revealed at SXSW 2025
Extended Trailer Introduces New Characters and Gameplay
Kojima Productions and Sony unveiled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach during South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 9, 2025. Director Hideo Kojima premiered a 10-minute trailer showcasing narrative elements and gameplay, continuing the series' exploration of human connections in a fractured world.
The panel featured PlayStation's Kristen Zitan alongside returning cast members Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and music director Woodkid. The trailer introduced a pivotal new character - faction leader Neil (Luca Marinelli) - whose striking visual similarity to Solid Snake immediately sparked fan discussions.
Kojima had previously noted Marinelli's resemblance to the iconic Metal Gear protagonist in a 2020 Instagram post, acknowledging the actor's uncanny likeness when wearing a bandana. Neil's faction appears poised to play a significant role in the sequel's narrative.
