Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs at the close of 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.
These job cuts reflect the significant challenges faced by Rocksteady in 2024, stemming from the game's poor reception and resulting in approximately $200 million in losses for Warner Bros. No further updates are planned for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2025, though servers will remain active.
The downsizing wasn't limited to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced layoffs affecting 99 employees in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Numerous bugs, server outages, and a significant plot spoiler emerged, leading to widespread negative reviews and a massive surge in refund requests—a 791% increase according to McLuck analytics. The game's poor performance significantly impacted early access funding.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
