Niantic is rolling out exciting new content for Pokémon GO throughout August and September as part of the Tales of Transformation event. The Kanto Celebration, a key part of this season, is about to begin. Read on for all the details!
What’s in store?
The Kanto Celebration kicks things off from September 2nd at 10:00 a.m. to September 7th, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. This region is where the Pokémon journey first started. You’ll encounter Chansey, Snorlax, Abra, and other classic Kanto Pokémon appearing in the wild.
Event bonuses include one guaranteed Candy XL for evolving Pokémon, Mega Evolutions lasting three times longer, and double XP from spinning PokéStops. Evolving Ivysaur, Charmeleon, or Wartortle during this period will reward you with Venusaur knowing Frenzy Plant, Charizard with Blast Burn, and Blastoise with Hydro Cannon.
The Tales of Transformation season runs from September 2nd to December 2nd, 2025, in Pokémon GO. It introduces Keldeo in its Resolute Form for the first time ever in the game. Trainers who already have Keldeo can continue strengthening their bond to earn additional Candy.
Mega Evolutions are also making a splash, with Sharpedo, Camerupt, and Metagross appearing in their Mega forms for the first time during Raid Days. New Pokémon such as Dipplin and Hydrapple are being added to the game as well.
In battles, Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon are joining the action. Gigantamax Garbodor and Dynamax Duraludon are being hinted at as major raid challenges. Team GO Rocket’s Shadow Groudon is also debuting in Shadow Raids, alongside the return of Giovanni.
More stuff is coming up!
From September 9th to 14th, Pokémon GO will collaborate with Netflix’s stop-motion series, Pokémon Concierge. This event marks the debut of Psyduck wearing a swim ring, including its shiny variant. Sealeo and Shinx will also be available to catch in the wild.
