Capcom has unveiled fresh gameplay footage for its eagerly awaited 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Not only did they showcase the game, but they also revealed that the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi will be the protagonist of this latest installment in the Onimusha series.

During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom treated fans to an exciting new trailer, offering a glimpse into the sword-based action gameplay and the imposing enemies that players will face. Although Onimusha: Way of the Sword won't hit the shelves until 2026, the game's visuals and mechanics are already generating buzz within the gaming community.

Miyamoto Musashi, a historical figure renowned for his mastery of the sword, takes center stage in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The trailer not only highlights his unmatched sword skills but also offers a peek into his roguish and comedic personality. Capcom has gone the extra mile by modeling Musashi's face after the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.

In their press release, Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game that brings to life one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. The game is set in a Kyoto overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning the denizens of Hell into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades, and to prepare fans for this release, Capcom has also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, set to launch on May 23, 2025.
