Nintendo's Alarmo Alarm Clock: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is slated for a broader retail release in March 2025, as announced via their official Twitter (now X) account. This expansion marks a significant step, making the device readily available to a wider audience.
Initially launched with limited availability and requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, Alarmo will now be accessible to all consumers at major retailers globally, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized vendors. The $99.99 USD price point remains unchanged.
The high demand for Alarmo was evident shortly after its October 9th, 2024 launch. Sales were temporarily suspended in Japan due to overwhelming orders, necessitating a lottery system for Nintendo Online subscribers. Similar high demand led to sell-outs in select locations like New York City.
Alarmo's popularity underscores its unique features. Boasting 42 selectable scenes featuring beloved characters from games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, with more to come via free updates (including Animal Crossing: New Horizons), Alarmo offers a playful wake-up experience.
The alarm itself is cleverly designed. A chosen character appears on screen, and upon activation, a gentle sound plays. A "visitor" then arrives, prompting the user to get out of bed. Prolonged slumber results in a more insistent alarm and visitor. The motion sensor allows for silencing the alarm without physically touching the device.
Beyond its core functionality, Alarmo provides hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking. For households with pets or multiple sleepers, a "Button Mode" is recommended.
With its expanded release, Alarmo is poised to become a popular addition to bedrooms worldwide, offering a fun and effective way to start the day.
