"Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus and More Added"

Author : Max May 22,2025

Team Ninja has rolled out an extensive update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, elevating the game to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces several eagerly anticipated features, including New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, in response to community feedback announced back in January. The update is now available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

With the New Game Plus mode, players can dive into a fresh playthrough on any difficulty they've previously conquered, bringing along their arsenal of weapons and Ninpo. However, these items will reset to Level 1, and players can't directly escalate to a higher difficulty through this mode.

A new Photo Mode has been added to the in-game Options Menu, allowing players to adjust the camera within specified limits to capture stunning in-game screenshots.

For those who prefer a cleaner look, the update includes the option to hide the projectile weapon carried on the player's back. This feature can be toggled in the Game Settings under the Options Menu.

On the balance front, Team Ninja has made several adjustments: enemy Hit Points have been reduced in Chapters 8 and 11, while the number of enemies has been increased in Chapters 13 and 14. Additionally, the damage output of some of Ayane's attacks has been boosted.

The patch also addresses numerous bugs, including control issues on high-performance PCs, controller vibration problems, out-of-bounds glitches, game-breaking bugs in certain chapters, and crashes during extended play sessions.

Ninja Gaiden Black 2, an enhanced version of the classic action game built on Unreal Engine 5, was a surprise release during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This update not only refines gameplay but also leverages the engine's capabilities for enhanced graphics, introduces new playable characters, and improves battle support functions.

IGN's review of Ninja Gaiden Black 2 awarded it an 8/10, praising its improvements over the Sigma 2 version while noting that the game's design with fewer, more resilient enemies might not be the definitive experience for all players. Nonetheless, it was hailed as a visually stunning and highly enjoyable action game.
