Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th anniversary with a series of thrilling announcements, showcasing upcoming events and projects. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the NieR online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
The novel will feature three updates: the first one is already available, while the next two will be released on April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis hints at an intriguing plot, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
Alongside this, Square Enix launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the main hub for the online special novel and other related projects and events planned for the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be released soon.
Additional performances for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more information on the concert's official website.
A range of new merchandise has also been announced, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the NieR Weapon Story book with over 650 weapon stories from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a developer blog starting April 28. Monthly updates will be released throughout the year, providing insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues. The sudden introduction of a developer blog for a closed game has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake, though no official announcements have been made yet.
