Netflix Cancels Electric State Prequel Game: Kid Cosmo

Netflix is set to launch an exciting new game tied to their upcoming sci-fi adventure film, The Electric State. The game, titled The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, is a puzzle game with a unique retro-futuristic twist, scheduled for release on March 18th, just four days following the film's debut on Netflix on March 14th. Directed by the acclaimed Russo brothers, the movie features Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt and takes viewers on a post-apocalyptic road trip across an alternate '90s America, filled with massive robots.

It’s Not Going to be a Simple Adaptation of the Movie

The Electric State: Kid Cosmo isn't just a straightforward adaptation of the film. It serves as a prequel, delving into the early lives of two central characters, Chris and Michelle, through an innovative game-within-a-game format. Developed by BUCK Games in partnership with AGBO, the game promises a rich narrative experience. BUCK Games, known for their acclaimed roguelite puzzle game Let's! Revolution! on Steam, brings their expertise to ensure engaging gameplay.

Set in Wichita, Kansas, in 1985, Kid Cosmo takes players on a journey spanning five years, offering a deeper exploration of Chris and Michelle's backstory before the events of the movie. Players will navigate through a series of puzzle adventures reminiscent of the WarioWare series but infused with a distinct '80s aesthetic. The game involves collecting modules, repairing Kid Cosmo's ship, and solving puzzles that gradually reveal the secrets of this mysterious world. For a sneak peek, check out the trailer below.

The Electric State: Kid Cosmo Follows Netflix’s Trend of Spin-Offs

The release of The Electric State: Kid Cosmo aligns with Netflix's ongoing efforts to expand its gaming catalogue, particularly through interactive spin-offs. This trend is evident in games like Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales, Too Hot to Handle Series, Money Heist: Ultimate Choice, and Squid Game: Unleashed, which have enriched their gaming offerings. If you're a Netflix subscriber, explore their gaming roster on the Google Play Store. And don't miss our upcoming feature on the new game Hello Kitty My Dream Store, which merges with Sanrio characters.
