MultiVersus to Conclude Operations After Season 5

MultiVersus is Shutting Down After Its 5th Season

Warner Bros. Games has announced the upcoming closure of MultiVersus, its popular platform fighter. The game's fifth season, launching February 4th, 2025, will be its last. The servers will officially shut down on May 30th, 2025.

Season 5: A Final Farewell

The final season will introduce two new playable characters: Aquaman (DC) and Lola Bunny (Looney Tunes). According to Player First Games and Warner Bros., all Season 5 content will be unlockable through gameplay. Following the season's conclusion, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. No official reason for the shutdown has been provided.

A silver lining for fans: an offline mode will remain accessible. Players can download the final version of the game between February 4th and May 30th to retain local gameplay, featuring solo play against AI or multiplayer with up to three friends. This offline mode will preserve all earned and purchased content linked to the player's account.

Real-money transactions ceased on January 31st, 2025. Any remaining Gleamium (in-game currency) can be used until the end of Season 5.

A Short but Impactful Run

MultiVersus launched its public beta in July 2022, quickly gaining popularity as a free-to-play platform fighter. Despite a relaunch in May 2024 with significant updates (including new characters, rollback netcode, and a PvE mode), the game faced challenges, including technical issues and reported player count declines.

At its closure, MultiVersus will boast a roster of 35 characters from various franchises. Player First Games and Warner Bros. expressed gratitude for the community's support.

MultiVersus remains available for download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC until May 30th, 2025.
