Modern Era Star Trek Series Ranked

Author : Noah May 01,2025

Star Trek has been making quite a name for itself in the modern era since 2017's Star Trek: Discovery began, and we've just been treated to the seventh entry on Paramount+ with Star Trek: Section 31. While we didn't love this movie as much as we hoped, there have been some real highlights that rank up there with Star Trek's best.

With the lows of Section 31 and the highs of Strange New Worlds, it's the perfect time for fans to rank every modern era Star Trek series and have their voices heard. And yes, we know that Section 31 is a movie, but we are counting it because it started its life as a series!

You can make your own tier list below and see how it compares to the rest of the IGN community. Do you agree that Strange New Worlds is at the top? Does Discovery deserve better than the D it is currently sitting at? The choice is yours!

Star Trek Series of the Modern Era

For me, the third season of Picard was a standout, more than making up for the flaws of the first two seasons, and it deserves an A. Prodigy also holds a special place in my heart because it feels like the Voyager sequel I didn't even know I wanted, and I think it's at least a B, if not higher!

You can check out my tier list below and then explore how to watch Star Trek in order, get the latest details on the Star Trek live-action comedy and Starfleet Academy series, and delve into what happened to Star Trek 4.
