Minecraft Film Mobs Teased in Lego Sets

Lego has unveiled a new series of sets based on the upcoming live-action Minecraft movie starring Jack Black. These sets offer a glimpse at which iconic mobs and characters will feature in the film.

According to Games Radar, two sets have been announced so far: the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack. These will join Lego's existing Minecraft lineup and include minifigures for Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's character, The Garbage Man.

The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring hints at a gladiatorial arena scene in the movie. This 491-piece, $49.99 set shows Momoa's character battling a zombie riding a giant chicken. Whether this creature is true-to-scale or represents a baby zombie on a standard chicken is unclear, but it stands roughly twice the height of The Garbage Man.

The set also features Steve, his friend Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a fighting ring structure, a treasure chest with gold, and a small spectator stand outfitted with weapons.

The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set confirms the Nether's fluffy, marshmallow-like villain will also appear, seemingly in a large-scale battle within an Overworld village. Minifigures include a villager, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.

This set retails for $69.99 and contains 555 pieces. Both will be available starting March 1, a full month before "A Minecraft Movie" premieres in theaters on April 4.

The film's proper reveal in September drew immediate criticism from some fans, who pointed out a jarring contrast between the live-action actors and the animated, green-screen world. One fan even recreated the trailer using a fully animated style.

However, the director and producer told IGN in November they were aware of this initial reaction and were prepared for the feedback, stating confidently they "were ready for everything."
