Marvel Rivals S1 Balances Updates Unveiled

Marvel Rivals Receives Pre-Season 1 Balance Patch with Significant Character Adjustments

NetEase has deployed a comprehensive balance patch for Marvel Rivals, impacting numerous characters ahead of Season 1's January 10th launch. This update features a mix of buffs and nerfs, addressing community feedback and re-shaping the competitive landscape. Key changes include significant improvements to underperforming Duelists and adjustments to team-up abilities.

Marvel Rivals, a popular hero-shooter, has quickly gained traction since its late 2024 release. Its roster of iconic Marvel characters, combined with team-based gameplay mechanics (payloads, capture points, and unique abilities), contributes to its success. Season 1, focusing on the Fantastic Four, promises further expansion, but this pre-season patch lays the groundwork for a more balanced and engaging experience.

The patch extensively modifies heroes across all categories:

Duelists: Several Duelists received minor nerfs, including Black Panther, Hawkeye, Hela, and Scarlet Witch. However, substantial buffs were given to others: Black Widow, Magik, Moon Knight, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier. Most notably, Storm, previously considered weak, receives significant enhancements to her Bolt Rush and Wind Blade abilities.

Vanguards: Vanguards like Venom, Thor, and Captain America also see improvements. Thor and Captain America receive health boosts, while Venom's Feast of the Abyss damage is increased.

Strategists: The Strategist category sees adjustments to Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon. These changes primarily focus on cooldown reductions and increased healing or repair capabilities.

Team-Up Abilities: The patch also fine-tunes various team-up abilities, impacting combinations such as Hawkeye/Black Widow, Hela/Thor/Loki, and Rocket Raccoon/Punisher/Winter Soldier. Some team-up cooldowns are reduced, while others see adjustments to damage or effects. Season bonuses for certain team-ups have also been lowered.
