Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts have eagerly returned to the game to test out a new fighter, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. This iconic game, developed by Capcom, has achieved significant success, selling 4.4 million copies by December 31, 2024. Despite some fans feeling that the game has been lacking in content, the recent addition of new characters has sparked excitement among the player base.
Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter introduced in the second season of Street Fighter 6, significantly boosting the game's popularity. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a notable increase from the usual 24-27 thousand. This surge represents the highest player count since May 2024, highlighting Mai's impact on the game's community.
Players with a Battle Pass can access Mai Shiranui and engage with her in various modes. In World Tour, fans can develop relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then test their skills in Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added, offering more customization options for the character.
The excitement doesn't stop there. Battle Hub is currently hosting a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can try out this special character until March 10. Alongside these additions, the game has introduced new Master League ranks and rewards, further enhancing the competitive experience.
Capcom has also released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from this new addition to the Street Fighter 6 roster.
