How to Start Battle of Frogs and Mice in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To initiate the Battle of the Frogs and Mice side quest, you must first complete either the Mice or Frogs quests for Prochek and Olbram. Once you've seen one of these quests through to the end, the Battle of the Frogs and Mice will become available. Start by speaking to Prochek in Tachov or Olbram in Zhelejov, and then head to the pasture to begin the quest.
Should You Side With Prochek or Olbram?
During the quest, you'll be faced with the decision to side with either Prochek or Olbram. To support Prochek, talk to him in Tachov and choose the option, "Let’s get those Zhelejovites!" To back Olbram, speak with him in Zhelejov and select, "Let’s go and see those Tachovites!"
While at the pasture, avoid trying to reconcile them during their talks, as this will only trigger the fight prematurely. If you can pass the dialogue check during negotiations, you can cause one person from the opposing side to flee, making the subsequent fight easier. Winning the fight for either side will earn you some groschen.
How to Stop the Feud
For a more peaceful resolution, you can end the feud altogether. Before heading to the pasture, ask Prochek or Olbram if they're willing to end the feud. Then, travel to Troskowitz to meet Baliff Thrush and select the dialogue option, "You’d finally have some peace." Passing the subsequent dialogue check allows you to access the scribe’s room and read the Troskowitz Chronicle. If persuasion fails, you can sneak in to read it, but remember to save your game first.
After speaking with the scribe, choose the dialogue option, "Fecit, ordinem in regione ope clavi ferrei." Next, go to the pasture and locate three oak trees aligned next to each other. Examine the middle tree to find a nail. Your choices with the nail are:
- Leaving it in the middle tree will split the pasture equally between Tachov and Zhelejov.
- Putting the nail in the west tree will allocate more land to Tachov.
- Putting the nail in the east tree will allocate more land to Zhelejov.
The choice of where to place the nail doesn't significantly impact the outcome, so feel free to choose based on your preference or remain neutral. After deciding, speak with Baliff Thrush again, who will agree to end the feud. Then, bring Prochek or Olbram to the pasture to finalize the peace agreement.
