Jon Bernthal's Punisher will make his highly anticipated return following Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 in a Marvel special inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy's style.
Entertainment Weekly revealed Bernthal will co-write the Marvel special alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green, director of We Own This City.
"This delivers the explosive action you'd expect from Frank Castle's world while maintaining the deep emotional core that defines the character," said Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Television's head. "We couldn't be more thrilled about this project."

The Punisher announcement arrives as Marvel Television prepares to reunite the Defenders on Disney+. This gritty superhero crew - featuring Matt Murdock's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist - previously headlined Netflix's Marvel shows before transitioning to Disney+ as official MCU canon.
"Exploring these characters within the MCU framework presents incredible creative opportunities," Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly. "While we face different constraints than comic books - where imagination is the only limit - we're working within live-action production realities to bring these stories to life in meaningful ways."
"Within those parameters, we're thoroughly excited about the narrative possibilities we're developing," he added.
Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4, continues the Netflix-originated storyline featuring returning favorites like Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). This season introduces a chilling new antagonist: the creatively twisted serial killer Muse.
