In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quests offer a rich narrative experience, allowing you to delve deeper into the lives and stories of the game's characters. One such quest, *Bad Blood*, provides a compelling storyline that intertwines with the main questline. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to start and complete this intriguing quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
As you explore the expansive world of *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to progress through the quest that involves finding Mutt. During this quest, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena's hut, where Henry will suggest checking if Bozhena has any information. Approach Bozhena's hut and inquire about Mutt. She'll reveal that her daughter Pavlena is missing, prompting you to help her, which adds the *Bad Blood* quest to your journal.
Gather Information
Begin by traveling to Troskowitz and speaking with Bailiff Thrush. Then, visit Innkeeper Betty at the tavern to gather more details about Bozhena and Pavlena, understanding the reasons behind their ostracization from the village. Next, head to the designated area to converse with the woodcutters. Find Woodcutter Dushko, who will point you towards Roman's house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house.
Once inside, examine Pavlena's basket and then speak with Dushko again for further clues. He'll direct you to a clearing near Roman's house, a favored spot for the couple.
Search the Scene
From Roman's house, follow the objective marker downhill towards the stream, then turn left at the two large boulders to discover the site. You'll find a blood trail to follow, leading you to Roman's deceased body. Continue upward and engage with Hogherd Hugo, then return to Troskowitz to speak with Hired Hand Straw. Successfully pass a dialogue check with Straw to learn about Jakesh and the true events involving Roman and Pavlena.
After your conversation, you may also discuss your findings with Thrush to decide Straw's fate. Then, proceed to the rocks south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.
Confront Ota
In the designated area, navigate around a large boulder to find a path leading to a ladder. Ascend and confront Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can choose the following dialogue options to persuade Ota to release Pavlena:
- “What’s your name?”
- “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
- “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”
Despite Ota's compliance, Pavlena will ultimately kill him. After speaking with Pavlena, return to Bozhena together. Bozhena will then request that you deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
For the final part of the quest, decide whether to eliminate Jakesh or negotiate peace between him and Bozhena. Locate Jakesh at his child’s grave. You have the option to kill him, speak with him to broker peace, or even choose to kill Bozhena instead. The quest concludes regardless of your decision. In my playthrough, I opted to kill Jakesh and informed Bozhena, receiving a reward in return.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Choosing to kill Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. This decision also unlocks a new dialogue option with Pavlena and rewards you with a necklace that was a gift from Roman.
Alternatively, sparing Jakesh and facilitating peace will earn you 100 groschen from him. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can either keep the money or share it with her. This path allows Bozhena and Pavlena to return to the settlement.
