Get ready for adventure! Lara Croft, the iconic Tomb Raider, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has revealed. This highly anticipated addition follows recent additions like Vecna and Chucky, solidifying Dead by Daylight's reputation for incorporating beloved characters from diverse gaming franchises.
The rumour mill has finally been silenced. After the release of Chapter 32, Dead by Daylight welcomes a heroine who defined a generation of gamers. Following the recent inclusion of The Lich (Vecna) from Stranger Things, and before that Chucky and Alan Wake, Lara Croft, the original creation of Toby Gard for Core Design's 1996 Tomb Raider, takes center stage.
Lara Croft's arrival in Dead by Daylight is slated for July 16th across all platforms, with PC players gaining early access via a Steam public test build. While an official trailer showcasing her in-game abilities remains pending, PC gamers will be the first to experience her unique perks and gameplay firsthand. Behaviour Interactive describes her as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of navigating treacherous environments – a skill set perfectly suited to the Entity's Realm. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot.
Beyond Lara Croft's debut, Behaviour Interactive's recent 8th-anniversary livestream unveiled exciting new content. This includes a thrilling 2v8 mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors, the addition of Frank Stone (a character from Supermassive Games' The Quarry), and a highly anticipated Castlevania chapter later this year.
The excitement surrounding Lara Croft extends beyond Dead by Daylight. Earlier this year saw the release of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, a compilation of the original trilogy. While the PS5 port of Tomb Raider: Legend received mixed reactions, Lara's enduring popularity is undeniable, further cemented by the upcoming animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, slated for October 2024, featuring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice.
