Rogue Loops: A Hades-Inspired Roguelike with a Twist

The upcoming indie roguelike, Rogue Loops, is generating buzz for its striking resemblance to Hades, both aesthetically and in its core gameplay loop. However, Rogue Loops introduces a unique mechanic that sets it apart. While a release date hasn't been officially announced (currently slated for Q1 2025), a free demo is available on Steam, offering players a sneak peek.

The game features a recurring dungeon with randomized loot and ability upgrades, viewed from a top-down perspective. This echoes the structure of popular roguelikes like Hades. But Rogue Loops adds a significant twist: ability upgrades are paired with distinct downsides. These "curses," unlike the temporary effects of Hades' Chaos Gates, can significantly impact gameplay throughout the entire run, adding a layer of strategic depth.

The narrative centers on a family trapped in a deadly time loop. Players navigate five floors, each teeming with unique enemies and bosses. Classic roguelike elements are present, including procedurally generated upgrades that allow for diverse build customization through buffs and debuffs.

While a precise release date remains elusive, the Steam page indicates a launch in the first quarter of 2025. Until then, players can explore the first floor via the free demo, or delve into other acclaimed roguelikes such as Dead Cells and Hades 2.
