Ghost of Yōtei's release date has been eagerly anticipated, and now it's official: the game will launch alongside a new trailer that dives deep into its story and gameplay. Here’s everything you need to know about the release date, as well as details on the digital deluxe and collector’s editions.
Ghost of Yōtei New Trailer
Coming on October 2, 2025
PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have thrilled fans by announcing the release date for Ghost of Tsushima's sequel, Ghost of Yōtei. On April 23, a new trailer titled "The Onryō’s List" was unveiled, giving viewers a glimpse into the game's narrative and some exciting gameplay footage. The trailer culminates with the eagerly awaited release date: October 2, 2025.
Ghost of Yōtei follows the gripping tale of Atsu, set in the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido). Driven by a quest for vengeance, Atsu seeks to hunt down the notorious Yōtei Six, the outlaws responsible for her family's murder and her near-death experience. Her targets include The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
This game is a standalone sequel, occurring 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, Sucker Punch provided insights into the game's new features, including an array of new weapons and innovative mechanics, building upon the foundation laid by its predecessor.
Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way
Ghost of Yōtei offers players the freedom to hunt down the Yōtei Six in any order they choose, allowing for a personalized path of revenge. Sucker Punch detailed these features in a post on PlayStation.blog on April 23, providing deeper insight into Atsu’s journey and how it will unfold.
The game promises an evolved exploration of the open world, offering more freedom and variety than Ghost of Tsushima. Beyond the main quest of tracking down the outlaws, players can engage in a range of activities in Ezo. According to the blog post, "Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills."
Fans of the series will enjoy familiar elements like the beloved "Guiding Wind" feature, alongside new mechanics such as the ability to build a campfire anywhere in the open world. The developers emphasize that player choice and freedom in the vast land of Ezo are at the core of the game, with more details to be shared in the coming months.
