New Game Announced by Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Creators

MercurySteam, the acclaimed Spanish studio behind hits like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has just announced their latest venture, an action-RPG named Blades of Fire. This new title, developed in partnership with publisher 505 Games, is set to plunge players into a richly crafted dark fantasy realm, brimming with enigmatic races and formidable beasts.

The debut trailer for Blades of Fire offers a glimpse into its intense hack-and-slash combat, distinctive visual flair, and a brooding, atmospheric backdrop. Fans of MercurySteam's previous work will notice gameplay and artistic parallels with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, while the game's environments and creature designs draw inspiration from the Darksiders series. An intriguing addition to the game is a mechanical bird, which appears to serve as the protagonist's means of navigating the expansive world.

Blades of Fire is being crafted using MercurySteam's own Mercury Engine. This choice could potentially sidestep the optimization challenges that plague many games developed on the widely-used Unreal Engine 5, promising a smoother gaming experience.

Mark your calendars for the release of Blades of Fire on May 22, 2025. The game will be launching on the latest generation of consoles, including the PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as on PC through the Epic Games Store (EGS).
