Today marks an exciting day for Nintendo fans as the company opens its new San Francisco store on May 15, located in Union Square at 331 Powell Street. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the successful and popular New York location, which was initially known as the Nintendo World Store. The New York store underwent renovations and rebranding, reopening as Nintendo NY in 2016.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store to explore what Nintendo has in store for its customers. Additionally, we sat down for an exclusive interview with Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America, to discuss the reasoning behind opening their first West Coast store at this time.
During our conversation with Doug Bowser, we delved into the highly anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, set for June 5. We asked about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and beyond, discussed the controversial Game-Key Cards, and covered a range of other topics surrounding this new console.
