Elden Ring player hits relic storage limit

Author : Joshua Oct 15,2025

Relics are powerful items that can enhance your Nightfarer's capabilities during each Elden Ring Nightreign run. Interestingly, there appears to be a storage limit for these valuable artifacts in your hideaway.

Today, a Reddit user on r/Nightreign shared an in-game screenshot showing an unusual restriction when trying to begin an expedition. Their game displayed: "Cannot launch expedition: Too many relics in possession. Please use the relic rite menu to sell off spares."

You can't play if you have too many relics

The player u/Scufozzover1 didn't provide an exact count, estimating "maybe upwards of 1000." While this might suggest a common 999-item cap, the precise threshold remains uncertain unless someone chooses to test this theory through extensive grinding.

Regular relic maintenance offers significant benefits, primarily through resource conversion. However, continuous Nightreign runs could easily lead to relic accumulation going unnoticed.

Forum discussions have revived an ongoing criticism of Elden Ring Nightreign: relic inventory management challenges. As collections grow, players experience increasing difficulty organizing their artifacts, prompting calls for enhanced filtering options.

Even my moderate collection of basic relics creates organizational challenges, making this Redditor's massive hoard particularly daunting. While this may not currently affect most players, sustained Nightreign gameplay could make this a widespread consideration. At minimum, it serves as a valuable reminder to periodically clear outdated relics.
