The eagerly awaited set, Edge of Eternities, is set to launch on August 1, 2025. Although we're still waiting on card spoilers, there's already plenty to get excited about. Here's everything we know so far about Magic: The Gathering: Edge of Eternities.
What is MTG Edge of Eternities?
In 2025, Wizards of the Coast is doubling down on the 'Universes Beyond' series, beginning with the Final Fantasy set, followed by Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, Edge of Eternities breaks from this trend, focusing on a cosmic narrative deeply rooted within Magic's own universe. Sandwiched between the high-profile crossovers, this set marks the inception of the final chapter in the Metronome storyline, which kicked off with Wilds of Eldraine. Although we've only seen concept art so far, the stage is set for an epic conclusion.

Play Boosters have become the standard for opening packs, replacing Set and Draft Boosters. Each pack contains 15 cards, with the last typically being an advertisement, art card, or token. Cards 1 to 6 are commons, and card 7 can be a reprinted common. Cards 8, 9, and 10 are uncommons, while card 11 is your shot at a rare or mythic rare. Card 12 is a Land card, which could be foil or feature full art, and card 13 is a wildcard from the set. Finally, card 14 is a guaranteed foil wildcard, enhancing your chances of snagging those coveted chase cards. You can purchase Play Boosters individually or opt for a booster box for a more substantial haul.

Commander has become Magic's most popular format, appealing to players with its "last player standing" excitement and ready-to-play 100-card decks. This year's sets have varied in the number of Commander decks offered. For instance, Aetherdrift provided two options, Tarkir: Dragonstorm offered five, and Final Fantasy comes with four. Edge of Eternities will feature two decks: World Shaper and Counter Intelligence. World Shaper, in Black, Red, and Green (Jund), encourages players to "Sacrifice Lands" and "Grow Back Stronger". Meanwhile, Counter Intelligence, in Blue, Red, and White (Jeskai), focuses on "Boosting Artifacts" and "Proliferating Counters".
