The developers behind the PvPvE action game *Dungeonborne*, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed *Dark and Darker*, have officially declared the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Despite an enthusiastic launch, the project struggled to maintain its player base, ultimately succumbing to low engagement and a scarcity of substantial updates within its brief lifespan of less than a year.
Although the *Dungeonborne* page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed through a direct link. While the developers have not publicly detailed the reasons behind the shutdown, it is evident that the game's dwindling player numbers were a significant factor. From late 2024 onwards, *Dungeonborne* rarely saw more than 200 concurrent players, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 active users daily.
The final chapter for *Dungeonborne* will be written on May 28, when its servers will be permanently closed, marking the end of the game's journey. What began with promise and interest from fans of the genre will now recede into memory, never fully realizing the potential it once held.
