Digimon enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting new addition to the franchise! At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled Digimon Alysion, a new mobile trading card game (TCG) that's currently in development. This announcement comes on the heels of successful mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, signaling Digimon's strategic move into the mobile gaming arena.
Digimon Alysion is set to be a free-to-play digital TCG where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise, build their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its anticipated in-depth story mode, which promises to offer a rich narrative experience in addition to the standard and competitive gameplay options.
The newly released trailer for Digimon Alysion has given fans a glimpse into its gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be central to the story mode. Among the new characters introduced are Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon called Gemmon. While no specific release date has been announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with more details to follow.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's backstory, main characters, and showcased special moves of some featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime. Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, the largest in the series, surpassing even its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which featured 330 Digimon.
The game's narrative focuses on time travel, with players able to choose between two protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization tasked with uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, along with her partner Aegiomon, will accompany players on their time-traveling adventure.
The event also featured several other announcements, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With such a packed lineup of upcoming projects, the Digimon franchise is poised for a vibrant future.
