Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, has shared an update regarding the testing phase for Chapters 3 and 4 of his upcoming game, Deltarune. Continue reading for details on the console testing process and what players can anticipate.
Console Testing for Deltarune Proceeding Well
Save Data Can Eventually Transfer to the Full Game

Via his official Bluesky account, Toby Fox—creator of both Deltarune and Undertale—informed fans that console testing continues to advance smoothly, though there remains substantial work ahead.
“Console testing is still underway. The number of bugs has decreased, but there is much more to check. (We haven't even started PS5 testing yet),” Fox stated. He also explained that alongside polishing the two new chapters, the team is implementing a feature to transfer save files from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) on consoles into the full game upon release. The necessary technology for this has only recently become available. “Fingers crossed it works!”
Given the encouraging progress in beta testing, the official launch may not be far off. Fox confirmed on Bluesky that Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are scheduled to arrive sometime in 2025.
Fox Introduces New Character: Tenna

Despite the heavy workload to finalize Chapters 3 and 4, Toby Fox continues to engage fans with lighthearted updates. The indie developer is well-known for his clever use of internet memes and self-aware humor, as showcased in a recent post:
“When I showed a Deltarune minigame I've been developing to my family and friends, they all described it as ‘a desperate plea for help because your game still isn't out,’” Fox shared on social media last week. He noted that his family insisted this was meant positively, while one friend reportedly laughed “nonstop for ten minutes.”

This sparked fan speculation that, since Fox mentioned last year that Chapters 3 and 4 are content-complete, the minigame could be intended for Chapter 5. Deltarune is planned to span seven chapters in total.
Fox continued, “The same friend who played Chapter 3 over a year ago told me, ‘I miss Tenna.’ My response was, ‘Wow, that’s a sentence nobody else on the planet has ever said.’” Tenna is a character not yet seen publicly in Deltarune, but first appeared during the Spamton Sweepstakes—a charity event for Child’s Play on the game’s official website in September 2022. Fox’s reference confirms Tenna will play a role in the upcoming Chapter 3.

Deltarune serves as both a parallel story and a successor to 2015’s Undertale, retaining many of the original game's mechanics and charm while introducing a new narrative and cast. Players join Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their mission to save the world.
