Dell, Alienware RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now $2,850

Author : Victoria May 14,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090 may be a generation behind the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, but it remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available. It outshines the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. The only GPU that outperforms it is the RTX 5090, which is notoriously hard to find at a reasonable price, often marked up by hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find. Thankfully, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models that can be equipped with this powerful GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $3,299.99, while the Dell Tower Plus begins at $2,849.99. These are among the best deals for an RTX 4090 equipped system, especially since other manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have ceased offering RTX 4090 prebuilt gaming PCs.

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Priced at $3,299.99 at Alienware, this Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming-focused systems, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is more than sufficient. This CPU boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz and 20 cores, cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, ensuring stable performance.

Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Available for $2,849.99 after a 10% discount at Dell, the Dell Tower Plus gaming PC offers similar specifications with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Upgrading the processor to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K for an additional $100 is recommended, as it not only enhances performance but also upgrades the cooling system from standard to advanced air cooling, rated for a 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, ensuring optimal performance.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

-----------------------------------------------------

The RTX 4090 remains the pinnacle of the RTX 40 series GPUs. Compared to the new Blackwell series, only the RTX 5090, with a $2,000 MSRP, outperforms it. The RTX 4090 can handle every game at 4K resolution with ease, delivering over 60fps even with maximum settings and ray tracing enabled, especially when DLSS is utilized. The only exception is path tracing, which is rarely used outside of benchmarks or social media showcases. While the RTX 5090 may offer better performance, the RTX 4090 is more than sufficient for most gamers, excelling in all gaming scenarios.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 may be large and costly, but its performance is unparalleled. As the only available card of its generation, it's compared to older models, yet it sets a new standard. With its impressive hardware and DLSS 3 AI technology, the $1,599 price tag seems justified for the exceptional frame rates it delivers."
