Hideo Kojima took to the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, to unveil an enthralling new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and to announce its release date. This eagerly awaited sequel is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy early access, starting from June 24.
The newly released 10-minute trailer showcases a mix of cinematic scenes and gameplay footage, sparking excitement among fans. One of the standout elements is the introduction of a character named Neil, played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli. Neil's appearance, donning a bandana reminiscent of Kojima's iconic Metal Gear character Snake, has already ignited discussions across gaming communities. Neil leads a squad of eerie soldiers and wields an assault rifle, adding depth to the game's narrative.
The trailer further fuels the Metal Gear nostalgia with the introduction of the Magellan Man, a colossal tar-like creature integrated with the DHV Magellan, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. This creature, which can be operated like a Pacific Rim-style mech, confronts enormous and unsettling tar monsters. The Collector's Edition of the game includes a 15" statue of the Magellan Man, appealing to collectors and fans alike.
The standard edition of Death Stranding 2 is priced at $69.99, while the Collector's Edition will set you back $229.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition is available for $79.99. Pre-orders for all editions will commence on March 17.
