Cow in Mario Kart World Eats Burgers, Steak

In a delightful break from the usual news about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, IGN had the chance to dive into the whimsical world of Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York this week. One of the highlights? The confirmation that the newly introduced Moo Moo Meadows Cow character can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.

For those not yet in the loop, Mario Kart World recently announced the inclusion of the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable racer, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet with countless memes and fanart celebrating this once-background character's promotion.

However, a curious detail emerged from the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer, where Mario was seen enjoying a burger. This led fans to ponder an intriguing question: Would Cow, whose species is typically associated with beef production, also eat beef? The online community was buzzing with anticipation for an answer.

During the event, IGN discovered that the food items seen in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations within the game's courses. These function similarly to drive-thrus, allowing racers to pick up take-out bags filled with various foods like burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts.

And yes, Cow can indeed consume all these items, including the much-discussed burger and steak. IGN even shared a video clip of Cow enjoying a steak, confirming the surprising dietary habits of this beloved character.

Interestingly, while other racers undergo costume changes upon consuming these food items, Cow seems unaffected. This raises questions about the potential effects of these foods on her. Is she simply enjoying the taste, or is there a hidden power-up at play that Nintendo has yet to reveal? Could these be vegetarian alternatives like veggie burgers and Beyond meat kebabs?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has not received a response yet. We're guessing they're preoccupied with the ongoing event in New York, rather than avoiding this playful query.

In the meantime, don't miss out on IGN's preview of Mario Kart World, featuring none other than our friend, Cow.
