Author : Joshua Dec 10,2025

Great news for fans of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! Clair Obscur isn't just the abbreviated title for Sandfall Interactive's hit RPG—it's the name of an entire franchise.

"Clair Obscur is the franchise name. Expedition 33 is one of the stories we plan to tell within this universe," director Guillaume Broche explained in an interview with MrMattyPlays (via TheGamer).

"It's still too early to share specifics about the format or concept, but one thing is certain: this is only the beginning for the Clair Obscur franchise."

To erase any doubt, Broche also discussed his approach to "writing sequels," making it clear that a follow-up title is in development. Stay tuned for more updates.

In IGN's 9/10 review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we hailed the game as a "modern RPG classic," noting: "While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 evokes many beloved classic and contemporary RPGs, developer Sandfall has masterfully reimagined those influences to create something uniquely its own."

We already knew that Daredevil star Charlie Cox feels like a "total fraud" when praised for his role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Now, it seems the voice actor for Gustave is eager to play the game himself.

Sandfall recently rolled out Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update 1.4.0, introducing major features like a Battle Retry option, along with numerous quality-of-life improvements, visual enhancements, and bug fixes. While the studio hasn't detailed what's next, they've assured players that "more content is on the way."
