Choosing Your Path in Citizen Sleeper 2: A Class Guide
Citizen Sleeper 2 kicks off by presenting you with three distinct character classes: Operator, Machinist, and Extractor. This guide breaks down each class, helping you select the best fit for your playstyle and roleplaying preferences.
Operator
The Operator begins with a bonus in Interface, foundational levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer skills. Endure is unavailable for leveling. Their unique ability lets them trade Stress for a re-roll of their lowest die.
While powerful later on, the Operator can feel challenging in the early game. The Interface skill is valuable, but the re-roll ability isn't always a game-changer. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator is versatile, adaptable to various character concepts.
Machinist
The Machinist starts with a bonus in Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and lacks Endure skills. Engage is not levelable. Their ability allows them to spend Stress to add +2 to their lowest die, further enhanced as the game progresses, and they also lose 2 Stress on a positive outcome.
This class proved to be a favorite in my playthrough. The ability to mitigate Stress and bolster dice rolls is incredibly useful, especially given the frequent need for Engineer and Interface checks. Mechanically inclined players will find this class particularly appealing.
Extractor
The Extractor begins with a bonus in Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface skills. Intuit is not levelable. Their ability lets them use Stress to add +2 to their crew's lowest die, an ability that scales with game progression.
The Extractor's ability shines in managing crew risks during Contracts. The Endure bonus is also a significant advantage, although the abundance of crew members skilled in Endure and Engage might lessen its impact later. This class is ideal for players who prefer a more physically capable, tough character.
This guide provides a comprehensive overview to help you choose your class in Citizen Sleeper 2.
