Carmen Sandiego Celebrates 40th Anniversary by Solving Crimes at Japan

Netflix and Gameloft have launched an exciting new update for the Carmen Sandiego game, where our iconic thief-turned-detective is heading to Japan during the stunning Cherry Blossom Festival. But don't let the picturesque setting fool you—Carmen is on a mission, not a vacation.

As Japan celebrates the Sakura season, Carmen dives into a thrilling new case named the Free FestiVILE. This limited-time event runs from April 7th to May 4th, and it's your chance to join her on this adventure.

The mission? To track down the thieves who’ve daringly stolen the sacred Shinboku tree. You'll be following leads, piecing together clues, and racing against time to uncover the mastermind behind this crime. All while immersing yourself in the breathtaking scenery of Japan, from the serene Tokyo shrines to the iconic cherry blossoms. Plus, you can unlock a traditional happi coat for Carmen, swapping out her signature red trenchcoat for this unique attire.

It’s Carmen Sandiego’s 40th Anniversary This Year!

For fans of the series, there's more to celebrate this year as Carmen Sandiego marks her 40th anniversary. The beloved original theme song by Rockapella is making a triumphant return, featured in the Standard Edition and as part of the soundtrack for Deluxe Edition owners.

If you're a fan of the Netflix animated reboot, you'll appreciate the game's nods to it, with high-stakes missions and clever capers where Carmen steals from crooks to protect cultural treasures.

Haven't tried the game yet but have a Netflix subscription? It's available on the Google Play Store. Remember, the cherry blossoms—and this caper—won't last forever!
