Buttered Cat Captivates in Upcoming Platforming Adventure

A charming new game, Cato: Buttered Cat, is poised for an Android release. The name itself—a portmanteau of "cat" and "toast"—perfectly encapsulates the game's quirky premise. Ever wondered about the physics of a buttered toast strapped to a cat's back? The developers at Team Woll did, and the result is a perpetual, gravity-defying spin cycle!

Initially conceived for the 2022 BOOOM Gamejam competition hosted by GCORES, Cato: Buttered Cat garnered such positive feedback that it evolved into a full-fledged game. Currently available on Steam for PC, it's soon to grace Android and other platforms. While the Google Play Store listing isn't yet live, you can pre-register via the official TapTap page for the Android version.

Gameplay in Cato: Buttered Cat

This puzzle platformer features a unique dual-protagonist system: a cat and a piece of buttered toast. Players must utilize their combined abilities to solve puzzles, overcome enemies, and navigate whimsical worlds.

The game boasts:

  • Five distinct worlds brimming with quirky contraptions.
  • Over 200 levels, including engaging side quests.
  • A captivating narrative revealed piecemeal throughout the levels.
  • 30 stylish outfits to customize your feline companion.

The core gameplay revolves around the synergistic relationship between the cat and the toast. The cat exhibits typical feline agility, while the toast serves as a controllable projectile. Powering up the toast allows players to propel it, enabling the cat to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.

The game also includes hidden rooms and numerous Easter eggs, adding to its replayability. Check out the trailer below for a sneak peek!

We eagerly anticipate the Android launch! In the meantime, stay tuned for our coverage of Operation Lucent Arrowhead, the Arknights x Rainbow Six Siege crossover.
