Although the initial video was quickly deleted and replaced with a clarification that it was posted prematurely, the new launch date was confirmed by Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account.
Pitchford shared that the development has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "the best scenario." This advancement in the schedule reflects the confidence and momentum behind the project. The official announcement stated, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
