The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven experience plunges players into the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing between human and vampire – in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora.
Coen, described as an emotionally vulnerable and honest protagonist, finds himself pitted against Brencis, an ancient vampire who holds Vale Sangora in his grasp. Facing a 30-day deadline to save his family, Coen possesses unique abilities hinting at his vampiric heritage, including superhuman agility and the capacity for occult magic. While the game's time flow isn't strictly real-time, players can expect extensive gameplay hours.
Addressing fan questions on their Discord server, Rebel Wolves clarified the nature of Dawnwalkers: they are not simply hybrids but a distinct entity. The game's magic system emphasizes occult practices – rituals, amulets, and summonings – rather than flamboyant spellcasting.
The Blood of Dawnwalker promises a "narrative sandbox" experience, prioritizing player agency and freedom within a nonlinear storyline. Despite its single-player focus (no multiplayer or co-op), the game features romanceable characters from various races, including uriashi and kobolds. While a release date remains unannounced, the game is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
