Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau Boss Fight Guide

Known Habitats: Windward Plains Breakable Parts: Horns, Wings, Tail Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x) Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod
Rey Dau is the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds. Immune to lightning attacks, it's surprisingly vulnerable to ice and water. Prioritize its head (4-star weakness) for maximum damage, or target its wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Most status effects are effective, except for stun and paralysis.
Use a Flash Pod
Utilize Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for critical hits. When it unleashes its lightning attack, immediately target its glowing red horns in Focus Mode for significant damage.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Fortify your defenses with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and offers resistance to lightning and fire. Consider a meal that boosts elemental resistance as well. If dodging proves difficult, stay close to Rey Dau's legs; its attacks primarily target the front and rear.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau will fly between locations. In the open plains, use Vine Traps on the lone tree to briefly stun it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as its follow-up lightning attack is potent.
How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health until the skull icon appears on the minimap. Set a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning dragons) and quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer before it escapes.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
