Bandai Namco is gearing up to bring the beloved Digimon franchise back to mobile devices with their latest offering, Digimon Alysion. This digital rendition of the Digimon Card Game is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title, although an exact release date has yet to be announced.
The game made its grand debut at Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th. During the event, Bandai Namco also shared updates on other projects, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc set for April 2025. They celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and unveiled an exciting new project called Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, fans can look forward to a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, slated for release on consoles and PC.
Digimon Alysion: Not Just a Card Game Port
Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital replica of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces innovative 'DigiAly' cards that are exclusive to this mobile version, along with new Digimon and characters. The game's character lineup leans heavily towards an all-female cast, which is an unconventional choice for a digital card game and has sparked some skepticism among fans expecting a faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco's first rodeo with Digimon mobile games; unfortunately, their previous attempts have not been successful. With two prior failures under their belt, there's a cautious anticipation around whether Digimon Alysion will manage to capture the hearts of the Digimon community.
Despite the mixed feelings, I'm eager to see what Digimon Alysion brings to the table. A closed beta test is on the horizon, though specifics remain undisclosed. For the latest updates, be sure to check out the game's official website or follow their X account.
