The stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has officially kicked off. While some Sony console players got a sneak peek at the patch early, the developers suggest reinstalling the game if you're not keen on testing it out.
Patch 8 brings some exciting updates to the table. One of the standout features is crossplay, which now lets players on different platforms—consoles and PC alike—join forces in the game. As long as you have a linked Larian account, you can invite friends from any platform to play together. What's more, even modded gameplay will support cross-platform play, but there are a couple of conditions to keep in mind. All mods used by the PC player must be available on Mac and consoles, and the host’s lobby can't have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.
In terms of multiplayer, a much-anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console previously couldn't handle split-screen play, so this is fantastic news for its users.
Patch 8 also introduces a photo mode with a plethora of customization options, along with 12 new subclasses that add even more variety to the game.
