Choosing the right character build at the start of a game can be challenging, as it's hard to predict what will be most enjoyable. That's where respecing comes in handy. If you're not having fun with your current setup, it's time to consider a respec. In *Avowed*, I initially went for a full wizard build but found it too challenging, so I switched to a spellsword. As you progress, you might want to respec again to optimize your combat effectiveness and achieve your ideal build.

How to Respec Your Abilities in Avowed

To respec your abilities in Avowed, head to the menu and select the “Abilities” section. At the bottom of the screen, you'll find the “Reset Points” option. The initial cost is 100 Copper Skeyt, which increases as you progress in the game. Confirm your choice, pay the fee, and all your ability points will be reset across all skill trees, except for the “Godlike” abilities, which are determined by in-game choices.

If you're satisfied with your abilities but want to adjust your attributes, or if you're looking to overhaul everything, navigate to the “Character” section in the menu. At the bottom, you'll see a button to reset your attributes, along with the associated cost, which starts at 100 Copper Skeyt and increases over time. Press the button, pay the cost, and reclaim your Attribute points to redistribute them as you see fit.

How to Respec Your Companion in Avowed

To respec your companion in Avowed, go to the menu, enter the Abilities section, and switch to the “Companions” tab. Under your companion's name, you'll find an icon that, when selected, allows you to reset their points for a fee in Copper Skeyt. Confirm your choice, and you'll have all of your companion's points back to reassign. Remember, you'll need to respec each companion individually.

And that's how you can respec in *Avowed* to tailor your gameplay experience to your preferences.

*Avowed is available now.*
